Regulatory Framework
The Society operates under the Regulations Governing Scientific Societies in Saudi Universities, issued by Council of Universities' Affairs Decision No. (1443/7/7) at its seventh meeting on 17/9/1443 AH. It reports to the President of King Saud University (or delegate) and is overseen by the KSU Scientific Societies Administration.
Governance Structure
The General Assembly elects the Board of Directors, which forms committees to carry out the Society’s work.
General Assembly
- Composition: working members, no fewer than 30.
- Meetings: one ordinary meeting per year, called by the Board President; quorum is a majority (in person or virtual), otherwise a second meeting after 10 working days with at least 25%. Extraordinary meetings may be held when needed.
- Decisions: by majority of those present; the chair's vote decides a tie.
- Key powers: approving internal rules, strategic and annual plans, budget and final accounts, the annual report; electing Board members; appointing the external auditor; nominating the Honorary President.
Board of Directors
- Composition: 5 to 9 working members elected by secret ballot of the General Assembly, at least two affiliated with King Saud University.
- Term: three years, renewable once. Current term: 10 May 2026 – 10 May 2029.
- Officers: President (a KSU affiliate), Vice President, Board Secretary and Treasurer, elected by the Board. The President represents the Society before official and non-official bodies in and outside the Kingdom.
- Meetings: one ordinary meeting every three months.
- Key powers: preparing plans and budget, setting annual fees, approving activities, forming committees and specialized groups, preparing the annual report.
Honorary President
Nominated by the General Assembly on the Board's proposal from recognized figures in the field, for a renewable three-year term, by decision of the University Council.
Financial Transparency
The Society's fiscal year follows the University's. It holds an independent account with an approved accounting system, audited annually by an external auditor.
